The Communication Workers Union (CWU) has called on its members who collect, sort and deliver parcels and letters to take strike action on 26 and 31 August and the 8 and 9 September 2022. We’re sorry this strike action is likely to cause customers some disruption. We’ll do everything we can to minimize disruption and get our services back to normal.
Royal Mail has well-developed contingency plans, but they cannot fully replace the daily efforts of its frontline workforce. We’ll be working keep services running, but you should expect significant disruption on strike days. Please post items as early as possible in advance of the strike dates. Items posted the day before, during, or in the days after any strike will be subject to delay.
On strike days, we’ll deliver as many Special Delivery and Tracked 24 parcels as possible and prioritize COVID test kits and medical prescription items. We will not be delivering letters, except for Special Delivery letter items. Delivery Offices and Customer Service Points will be closed, please do not try to collect from or drop off items on strike day dates.
Post Offices will be open on strike days, except Friday 26 and Saturday 27 August when the CWU has also called a strike. This will mean a small number of Post Office branches may be closed. Collections from Post Offices will be limited during strike days, and customers should expect delays.
