Brazilian Post has informed that the cities of Juiz de Fora, Ubá, and Matias Barbosa in the state of Minas Gerais experienced severe storms on 24 February 2026. Heavy rainfall caused landslides and flooding across large areas, destroying homes and resulting in fatalities.

A state of public emergency has been declared in all three municipalities due to the ongoing heavy rains.

As a result, postal services have been suspended indefinitely in Juiz de Fora, Ubá, and Matias Barbosa until weather conditions improve and floodwaters recede.
