After a five years the JCPenney catalog returned in March. The JCPenney 120-page catalog returned featuring housewares and other items from its home department. At a fraction of it previously published 1000 plus pages, the catalog is a selective hybrid of the company’s product line. The catalog was mailed to select customers, rather than to prospective customers.
In the years since the company stopped printing its catalog and relied on mini catalogs called “lookbooks” to draw customers to its website to place orders. The new catalog does that even better than those lookbooks did. Maybe the next comeback may be the catalog outlet, with the popularity of “Buy-online and Pickup-at-store.”
